Etsy US DDP checklist
For sellers outside the United States. Each step is only what Etsy's policy or help pages support. Last checked: 2026-10-17.
Check that the order is shipped from outside the United States to a US buyer. From 9 July 2026 the House Rule applies to every such seller.
Use a Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) shipping method so the buyer is not charged import duties, taxes, or other fees after purchase.
Plan for Purchase Protection, not a checkout block. A DDU order does not qualify. If it is late or does not arrive and the buyer opens a case, you may have to refund. If the carrier charges the buyer tariffs or fees, Etsy's announcement says the buyer can be refunded and the amount comes off you.
Do not expect Etsy to collect the US duty at checkout. Price the duty into what the buyer pays, and buy a DDP label or use a DDP carrier.
UK sellers: Royal Mail International Tracked DDP labels can be bought on Etsy.
Read Etsy's per-country table before you pick a carrier. Recorded examples: Australia — SendNow by Asendia, ShipStation, DHL, TNT/FedEx. Canada — ShipStation, Chit Chats, Canada Post, DHL, FedEx, UPS. UK — DHL, Evri, Royal Mail, UPS. Chit Chats can handle the USMCA exemption if the goods qualify.
Canada Post and Evri: the same Help page still says Etsy suspended those labels for US-bound packages from 25 August 2025, and its table still lists them as DDP carriers. Do not buy those labels on Etsy for a US order until you have checked which sentence is current.
Only if DDP is genuinely not available in your country: say in the listing that duties are not included, message an accurate estimate of duties and carrier fees, and get the buyer's agreement in Messages before you ship.
If the listing form suggests an HS code, do not treat that suggestion as the correct code. Open the official lookup for the destination and classify the goods there.
Official tariff lookups
Do not treat an HS code as correct, including a code suggested by a marketplace calculator. Classify the goods in the official tool.

Etsy orders to the US use Delivery Duty Paid
From 9 July 2026, Etsy's Shipping Policy (House Rules), clause E, requires a Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) shipping method for orders shipped to the United States, so buyers are not charged import duties, taxes, or other fees after purchase. The Seller Handbook says the same for any seller shipping from outside the United States to a US buyer. It is not limited by country.
- Enforcement is Etsy Purchase Protection, not a block at checkout. DDU orders do not qualify. If a DDU order arrives late or does not arrive and the buyer opens a case, the seller may be responsible for the refund.
- Etsy's announcement says that if the carrier charges the buyer tariffs or collection fees, the buyer is eligible for a refund and that amount is deducted from the seller.
- Exception, only where DDP is genuinely not available: state in the listing that duties are not included, message the buyer with an accurate estimate of duties and carrier fees, and get the buyer's agreement in Messages before shipping.
- Etsy does not collect US duties at checkout. The seller prices the duties in and uses a DDP carrier or label.
- The listing form's US tariffs calculator suggests HS codes. A suggestion is not a correct code. Use an official tariff lookup.

Canada Post and Evri labels on Etsy
One Etsy Help page says two different things about Canada Post and Evri for US-bound packages. Do not tell sellers they can buy those labels on Etsy until this is confirmed.
- Suspension notice on the page: The article still opens with a notice that Etsy suspended label purchases for Canada Post and Evri on US-bound packages from 25 August 2025.
- DDP carrier table on the same page: The same page's table lists Canada Post and Evri as commonly used DDP carriers.
